Irish Theatre Institute (ITI) is delighted to announce the writers/makers selected for the Six in the Attic and the new Virtual Attic programme (2021).

Six in the Attic (SITA), now in its 10th cycle, supports writers and theatre makers through mentoring, continuing professional development, networking and immersion in a community of artists who share the attic experience, both in person and online. In 2021 we have extended the SITA programme to include non-Dublin based artists for the first time through membership of our new Virtual Attic. 2021 will see ITI supporting thirteen Attic Artists, in Dublin and nationwide

Each artist receives bespoke mentoring from ITI Co-Directors (Siobhán Bourke and Jane Daly), access to information services and expertise from ITI staff, an artists’ practice bursary (€1000), access to a series of talks with industry experts and formal CPD workshops.

Following an open call, shortlisting and interview process, ITI is delighted to announce that the Six in the Attic & Virtual Attic artists for 2021 are:

Darren Donohue (Virtual Attic - Kilkenny)

Fionn Foley (Six in the Attic)

Katie Holly (Virtual Attic - Cork)

Co-Director's Siobhán Bourke and Jane Daly said:

"2020 has been an extraordinarily challenging year for artists and ITI has witnessed their remarkable level of commitment, drive and creativity first-hand despite the closure of our theatres and the restrictions on making work. In response to the clear need for supports, we have doubled our in-take of artists for SITA with the addition of a virtual attic programme which means that in 2021 we will work with an exciting community of artists based both in Dublin and country wide from Cork to Belfast and Leitrim to Kilkenny”.

For information about the programme and biographies of the participants please see the Six in the Attic page.

Six in the Attic is supported through Strategic Funding from the Arts Council/An Comhairle Ealaíon.
