Six in the Attic (SITA) is Irish Theatre Institute (ITI)’s artist development programme. This year long programme is dedicated to developing the practice of playwrights and theatre makers at all career levels.
Six in the Attic was established in 2011, focusing on supporting playwrights and theatre makers through mentoring, training and peer support establishing a community of artists. Since the foundation of the programme, Six in the Attic alumni have gone on to great individual successes – creating new work, winning awards, founding theatre companies, amongst many more accolades. In 2020 ITI established the Virtual Attic, offering additional places on the programme to non-Dublin based artists.
ITI is now calling for applications from playwrights and theatre makers with ambitious creative plans for the period July 2022 to June 2023; artists who feel they will benefit from mentoring and support alongside provision of space, time and practical resources to create over a 12-month period. ITI welcomes submissions from emerging, mid-career and established artists and makers who want to grow their careers, build their community and seek to match the scale of their projects with the scale of their ambition. Applications are open to Irish artists, artists based in Ireland or artists with a strong affiliation to Ireland.
