Intercity Dublin II launches at the Teatro della Limonaia

Intercity Dublin II, Teatro della Limonaia

Irish Theatre Institute (ITI) is delighted to announce that Intercity Dublin II, the Teatro della Limonaia flagship, launched in Florence this month.

For the last year, ITI has been working closely with the Intercity Dublin II team to help identify Irish writing to be staged for the 2024 edition – including a touring production from an Irish company and four Italian language premieres of Irish plays.

ITI worked with Teatro della Limonaia’s Artistic Director, Dimitri Milopulos, to bring new and exciting work to the second Dublin edition of the Festival. ITI previously worked with the Festival for the 2023 edition, which was so successful the relationship continued to 2024.

For the 2024 Festival, the following four Irish plays are being presented in Italian translations:

Conversations After Sex, by Mark O’Halloran

The Saviour, by Deirdre Kinahan

From Eden, by Stephen Jones

Chicken, by Eva O’Connor and Hildregard Ryan (national premiere, in English with Italian subtitles)

Fishamble: The New Play Company is also touring their award-winning production of Pat Kinevane’s KING (presented in English with Italian surtitles).

ITI wishes the best of luck to the Intercity Festival team and looks forward to continuing to share the work of Irish artists with Italian audiences beyond 2024.

Teatro della Limonaia

Intercity Festival is the flagship of the Teatro della Limonaia, which is now in its 37th edition. With its strong artistic identity, it has established itself on the Italian and European theatre scene, introducing masters of international theatre for the first time in Italy and bringing international voices to Italian audiences through original productions and translations.

Intercity Dublin is supported by Culture Ireland to bring Irish Artists participating in it to Florence. Check out the full festival programme on their website.
