Irish Theatre Institute is calling for expressions of interest from professional theatre practitioners who wish to join the Advisory Board of the Irish Centre of UNESCO’s organisation of International Theatre Institutes.
Irish Theatre Institute has been invited to join UNESCO’s organisation of International Theatre Institute Centres. An International Theatre Institute Centre is required to provide certain services and facilities, many of which are already provided by Irish Theatre Institute though its programme of activities. However, a key requirement of an International Theatre Institute Centre is that an Advisory Board be appointed. Irish Theatre Institute is now inviting, through an open call, expressions of interest from professional theatre practitioners interested in joining this board.
It will be the duty of the Advisory Board to abide by the charter for the Irish Centre of International Theatre Institutes and its rules and guidelines (see PDF attachment). It will meet on a quarterly basis. Diversity amongst advisors is preferable to ensure the Board represents a wide range of experience across the breath of performing arts disciplines. The Board will compromise twelve members, six of whom will be appointed by Irish Theatre Institute and six through this open call. The Board will exist independently of the Board of Directors of Irish Theatre Institute Ltd and will have no legal responsibilities or liabilities for the running of this company.
Irish Theatre Institute undertakes to pay the necessary annual registration fees as a member of the UNESCO Centre for International Theatre Institutes (calculated on the applicant country’s Gross Domestic Product – GDP). Ireland’s membership of the International Theatre Institute network will open up new dialogue, opportunities and access to potential partnerships which we anticipate will have benefits for Irish based companies and artists and for Irish artists working abroad.
To submit an expression of interest you must download the short form and return it by email to Claire O’Neill coneill@irishtheatreinstitute.ie by the 29th of July 2011. *This will be acknowledged by email, if you do not receive a reply please contact us to ensure you mail has not gotten caught in a Spam filter.
