Irish Theatre Institute is delighted to publish the Irish Theatre Institute Strategy 2024 – 2028: Championing and enabling the artistic ambitions of theatre artists in Ireland.

The Irish Theatre Institute (ITI) plays a vital role in empowering and advocating for the artistic ambitions of theatre artists across Ireland, from grassroots initiatives to international showcases. As a resource organisation, we are dedicated to expanding creative opportunities and resources for theatre artists, both within Ireland and globally. Our approach is artist-focused and needs-driven, consistently aiming for excellence and staying relevant to the community we are entrusted to serve and support.

We have identified five strategic priority areas representing a range of ambitions for theatre in Ireland.

IRISH THEATRE INSTITUTE’S STRATEGIC PRIORITIES

STRATEGIC PRIORITY #1 – ARTIST AND ARTFORM DEVELOPMENT

GOAL: To develop pathways of support for theatre artists and makers at all stages of their career progression.

STRATEGIC PRIORITY #2 – REACH AND ACCESS

GOAL: To reach and work with more people, with different people and in different places across our planning and programme.

STRATEGIC PRIORITY #3 – DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION

GOAL: To develop informed activity for more diverse theatre artists and to incorporate equity of opportunity into all that we do.

STRATEGIC PRIORITY #4 – ENGAGEMENT

GOAL: To strengthen awareness and understanding of what we do, and open up new ways for artists and others to engage with us and our work.

STRATEGIC PRIORITY #5 – ADVOCACY AND PROMOTION

GOAL: To consolidate our role as the voice of theatre artists, the guardians of theatre tradition and the champions of Irish theatrical achievement at home and abroad.

The realisation of this strategy relies on a collective effort between ourselves, our local and national partners and the theatre sector. During the lifetime of this strategy, we will work towards achieving our goals in support of these priorities.
