ITI WELCOMES LEIGH HUSSEY TO THE TEAM AS PROGRAMME COORDINATOR

Irish Theatre Institute is delighted to announce that Leigh Hussey has been appointed as ITI’s new Programme Coordinator.

Leigh joins ITI from axis: Ballymun an arts centre and community resource centre, where she worked as Arts Programme Coordinator since 2014. During her time there she coordinated, curated and delivered a number of key strands of the axis:Ballymun programme as well as developing new Arts in Education projects across all mediums for early years, primary and secondary schools in the North West area of Dublin. She also created programmes to support emerging and existing artists and their practice. She brings a wealth of experience of working with community groups and independent theatre artists to the role of ITI Programme Coordinator and has an excellent understanding of arts programme development and management.

Leigh is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin where she completed her Post Graduate Diploma in Theatre and Performance and subsequently worked with Draíocht, Blanchardstown in Children and Youth Arts Manager and Artistic Director roles.

On welcoming Leigh to the team Jane Daly ITI Co-Director commented “I am delighted to welcome Leigh Hussey to the ITI team and feel sure that she will be an asset to the organisation now and into the future. We know, from the role she played at Axis in Ballymun, where she was part of an excellent team, that she brings with her a range of relevant skills and experience and, importantly, understands the needs of artists and the challenges they face in developing and producing work. She will fit in extremely well at ITI where artists are at the heart of all that we do”.

Leigh said: “I’m excited to join the incredible team at ITI working across their programme of events and supports for Irish theatre artists. I’ve had the opportunity over the last 5 years to watch quality Irish theatre flourish from idea inception to stage in two venues that support artists, axis and Draíocht. I look forward to bringing all I’ve learnt to the artists I will work with and contributing to the future of the Irish Theatre sector. Exciting times ahead!”

Leigh takes up her position as IT Programme Coordinator from 25th April 2018.
