Irish Theatre Institute is delighted to be partnering with CoisCéim Dance Theatre in 2024 to offer short-term residencies in their beautiful dance space at 42 Fairview Strand, Dublin 3. These residencies give theatre-makers, in particular those whose work may have some element of movement, a dedicated space and resources for physical expression and experimentation. In 2024, ITI and CoisCéim are specifically interested in hearing from artists from underrepresented communities in the arts and will offer first preference to these applications.
Dates Available
There are 5 weeks available to in total, with multiple date options listed below.
- 10th – 14th June 2024 (this week is no longer available)
- 17th – 21st June 2024
- 4th – 8th November 2024
- 2nd – 6th December 2024
- 9th – 13th December 2024
The selected artists must be available to use the space within their allocated residency.
About the Space
CoisCéim are offering the ATRIUM space located in Fairview- a 10-minute cycle from the City Centre and a 15-minute walk from the Clontarf Dart Station. The space is suitable for writing, planning, small rehearsals, and production planning. More details below:
- 6.1m wide by 9.4 long. 58sqm with a wood parquet over concrete
- There are no stage lighting facilities. House lighting is controlled on a wall panel and cannot be dimmed
- AUX input only
- A three-seater sofa and 2 large footstools are located near the greenroom
- In addition to the Atrium space, you and your collaborators will have a desk on a mezzanine level as a dedicated workspace to work on your project.

Access Support for Applications
Access support is available for all applications, including alternative formats and tailored assistance. If you’d prefer to meet one of our team to talk through these guidelines or would like to submit your application in another format (like video, audio) please contact ITI’s Programme Manager, Katherine, on kmurphy@irishtheatreinstitute.ie.
Access Support for Selected Artists
If you are selected, there is a limited budget towards access supports. Once selected, you will need to send an outline of your access needs and send a quote to ITI’s team. We will then review and agree on the necessary amount.
Timeline:
Applications Open: Wednesday 8th May
Applications Close: Thursday 23rd May at 5pm
Artist Panel Meeting: the start of the week of the 27th May
Note: Residencies will be selected by a panel of artist peers, but due to the short turnaround time for the early June dates, if there is a lot of interest in these dates, we may offer these directly before applications close to ensure the selected artist(s) have time enough time to prepare.
Decisions will be issued on the 30th May 2024.
