PLAYOGRAPHYIreland is a flag-ship project for Irish Theatre Institute which has been rolled out in five phases since 2001. From the outset, the objective was to present a detailed catalogue of all new Irish plays written in both Irish and English in an on-line, easy to use, content rich database. The English language repertoire, since the foundation of the Abbey Theatre in 1904, was completed in 2006. ITI launched the first phase of Playography na Gaeilge in April 2010 cataloguing plays produced in Irish from 1975 – 2009. Each time a new Irish play is produced professionally in either the English or Irish language it is added to this database ensuring that it is an up-to-date record of the Irish play repertoire.
PLAYOGRAPHYIreland comprises two comprehensive online searchable databases: Irish Playography (all new professionally produced Irish plays written in English since the formation of the Abbey, Ireland’s National Theatre, in 1904) and Playography na Gaeilge (all new plays written and produced in the Irish language since 1901).
